Unlock your phone to use it with any other network.
In order to get customers to stick to a particular service provider, network carriers often lock cell phones to the service to prevent the customer from using a SIM card from another carrier. In order to use your phone with another network, you will have to unlock it using a special code. Your current network provider or a specialized unlocking company can provide you with this unlock code.
Instructions
1. Note down the important information about your cell phone that you will need during the unlocking process. This includes your cell phone number, your network carrier, phone manufacturer and model along with the phone's IMEI number. You can find out the IMEI by entering *#06# on the phone.
2. Contact your cell phone network provider workers and ask them to provide you with the unlock code. Keep in mind that not all the network providers willingly provide unlock codes, so if you are unable to obtain the code with this step, proceed to Step 3.
3. Search for a cell phone unlocking service that provides unlock codes.
4. Provide the cell phone unlock service with the phone information you gathered (IMEI number, etc). Most of these services require pay, so be prepared to pay around $20-$50.
5. Enter the code provided by the website. The code-entering procedure of every phone is very different, so when you obtain the code from a website, it will also provide you the phone-specific instructions for entering the code.
