Check My Magellan Gps Firmware Version

Firmware is a set of coded computer instructions stored in the read-only memory that instructs the computer or device on function. Many devices, from media players to cell phones to GPS systems, rely on firmware to run properly. Out-of-date or corrupted firmware often results in unpredictable device behavior and possible system glitches. Developers frequently release new firmware to correct previous errors or security issues. Every device has its own way of identifying its current firmware issue but checking the firmware version for a Magellan GPS is a simple process.

Instructions

1. Turn on the Magellan GPS and watch the upper right portion of the screen as the device starts. A firmware version number will appear in the corner of the screen during the "Welcome" screen.

2. Press the "Option" button if you missed the firmware number on startup.

3. Select "User Settings" and then "Diagnostics."

4. Press the "Product Information" button and read the firmware version number on the resulting screen.
