Unlock A Nokia 5140 Phone

Cell phones have become an integral part of our lives. We use cell phones to listen to music, snap pictures, record video and in the case of the Nokia 5140, measure temperatures. The Nokia 5140 comes equipped with features you will find on almost any cell phone, such as a camera and music player, but it also has a thermometer, compass, flashlight and decibel meter. The Nokia 5140 works on a GSM network, which means you can unlock it with an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number and unlock code.

Instructions

1. Contact your carrier to obtain an unlock code. Some carriers provide unlock codes to current and past clients with accounts in good standing. If your carrier cannot provide you with an unlock code, purchase a code from an online vendor, such as Unlock All Cellular or Mobile Unlock Solutions.

2. Input "*#06#" using your phone keypad or look at the compliance plate underneath your battery to obtain your 15- to 17-digit IMEI. You must provide your IMEI when purchasing an unlock code. Your carrier may require the IMEI if you request an unlock code.

3. Remove the back cover on the Nokia 5140 by pressing the finger grooves on each side of the cover. Lift the removal flap located under the back cover of the phone.

4. Remove the battery from the chamber of the Nokia 5140. Gently push the SIM card cover toward the base of the phone. Lift the cover of the SIM card holder and remove your old SIM card.

5. Replace the SIM card cover, battery and back cover. Turn on your Nokia. Ignore any messages on your phone display.

6. Input "#pw+CODE+1#; input #pw+CODE+7#" for phones locked to the Fido or Rogers network in Canada. "SIM Restriction Off" will appear on your phone display indicating the unlock process is complete. Replace "CODE" with the code you purchased or received from your carrier.
