Turn your Nokia cell phone into a webcam
If you travel a lot for work or just for relaxation there is no better way to keep in touch with your friends and family than by using a webcam. It is the next best thing to being there in person. However, if you hate having to lug around another gadget, then the easiest thing to do is to turn your Nokia mobile into a webcam using a piece of software. Although you can not always be there for the people you love, you can at least see them when you want.
Instructions
1. Find a software program that turns your Nokia cell phone into a webcam. A few that you might look at are Qik, Mobiola and WebCam Plus. (See Resources.) As of 2010, these range in price from free to $29.99.
2. Get Qik. This program is completely free and all that you need to do is to go to the website and register by provide a cell phone number, e-mail address and user name. The program will allow you to connect with networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Blogger, so that you you can share your videos with friends and family members. It comes in 19 different languages.
3. Try Mobiola. This application costs $24.99 as of 2010, although it comes with a seven day free-trial. It works on all smart phones including Nokias Blackberries, and any phone using Symbian and Windows Mobile operating systems. It allows you to connect your phone to your computer using USB, Bluetooth and Wi-fi. In addition to allowing you to do video chatting with services such as Skype, AOL Messenger, MSN Chat and ICQ, it also permits you to add special effects to your videos.
4. Get Webcam plus. As of 2010 this program costs $5.99, as of 2010. It allows you to connect to your Nokia phone via Bluetooth or USB and will permit you use video chatting services such as Skype, MSN Chat, AOL Messenger and ICQ.
