Remove The Sim Lock For The Nokia 6300

Unlocking your SIM card on your Nokia 6300 means that you can use your phone anywhere.

The Nokia 6300 is a thin mobile phone that came out in 2009. If you bought the phone and contract through one provider, then it came with the SIM (subscriber identity module) locked. Call your provider first. If you have the unlock code, you will be able to simply enter it and unlock the phone. But it won't work on a different network, and you will have to pay exorbitant roaming fees if you use your phone abroad. However, you can get the phone unlocked by downloading and/or purchasing an unlock code instead.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Nokia 6300 and enter *#06# into your phone. This will make a 15 to 17 digit code appear. This is called the international mobile equipment identification number, or IMEI for short. Write this number down, as you will need it when it comes time to create your code.

2. Find an online store that offers unlock codes for download. There are dozens available. A few that you can consider using are GSMLiberty, NokiaFree, and Lur .

3. Enter your IMEI number on the website you choose, following prompts. Choose your network, select Nokia as the phone manufacturer, choose your phone model and the country that your phone is registered in. Click "Unlock My Phone." This will generate an unlock code. Write it down.

4. Turn the power off on your Nokia 6300, and remove the subscriber identity module (SIM). This is the white plastic memory chip. Replace it with one from a different network.

5. Turn your phone back on and you will get a prompt that says "Enter subsidy code." Type in the unlock code that you created into your keypad exactly as you see it. Be careful not to enter any additional spaces or characters. Click "OK" and your phone will restart. When it comes back on it will be unlocked.
