Talk to your service provider to unlock your phone.
When a user buys a cell phone on a contract basis from companies like Samsung, the device is locked to Samsung services. This prevents the use of the phone with other service providers. However, after the contract has ended or if a user buys the phone without a contract, the device can be unlocked to be used with a service provider of choice.
Instructions
1. Contact your Samsung service provider store or contact them via email or phone to learn about unlocking. If you are under contract with Samsung, there may be other procedures to unlock your phone than if you are not under contract.
2. Ask the clerk to unlock your phone for you. You may have to pay an unlocking fee. The fees can be on any unlocking procedure, whether you are under contract or not.
3. Provide the clerk with any personal information, such as name, address, model of Samsung phone and contract number, so the clerk can move forward with unlocking the device.
4. Wait 24 hours so the phone can be unlocked by the Samsung clerk. There may be some technical details that take time to work out.
5. Remove your SIM card once the unlocking period is done. You can now use SIM cards from other service providers in your phone. This allows you to retain the technological benefits of your Samsung phone while taking advantage of a cheaper service plan from another provider.
