Enable Javascript On A Q9c

Install a free, powerful web browser on your Motorola Q9C.

The Motorola Q9C cellular phone runs the Windows Mobile operating system. The default web browser included in the Windows Mobile installation is Pocket Internet Explorer. Some websites depend on a JavaScript engine in order to render properly; the level of JavaScript support in Pocket Internet Explorer falls short of what those websites need. In order to view, and interact with, those websites properly you have to install a separate web browser with adequate JavaScript support. Opera Mini is the best free available web browser for the Q9C.

Instructions

1. Using Pocket Internet Explorer on the phone, navigate to the Esmertec JBed download page (see Resources). Because the Q9C does not have a Wi-Fi network adapter, you must browse and download over the data network of your cellular service provider. Download and install Esmertec JBed. You must install this Java Virtual Machine before Opera Mini, because Opera Mini is written in Java and therefore needs JBed in order to execute.

2. Using Pocket Internet Explorer on the phone, navigate to the Opera Mini website (see Resources). Download Opera Mini.

3. On the phone, invoke Esmertec JBed. You must always use Esmertec JBed to start Opera Mini.

4. Highlight "Opera Mini" and press the center button. Opera Mini will launch. You can now browse any website with JavaScript.
