You can activate your Verizon Wireless phone in a store or online.
When you purchase or otherwise acquire a new Verizon Wireless phone, it must be activated to allow it to be used on your wireless provider's network. If you purchase your phone at a Verizon Wireless store, they will activate the phone there. If you purchase your phone online, through Verizon Wireless or Amazon, you can also log into the Verizon Wireless website, enter the serial number or identification number information that identifies the phone, and activate it.
Instructions
1. Open the battery compartment of your Verizon Wireless phone. Remove the battery. On the sticker under the battery you will see the identification number. Olders phones use an electronic serial number, or ESN, while newer phone have a Mobile device identifier, or MEID.
2. Open a new browser window on your computer and go to verizonwireless.com. Log into your account with your username and password.
3. Click "Activate or Switch Device" in the "Device" menu. Click "Next."
4. Click "Next" again. Enter the ESN or MEID from the sticker under your battery in the "New Device ID" text box, and click "Submit."
