Unbrand An N95

The N95 is mobile phone manufactured by Nokia that was only offered in Europe and Asia. Although the N95 phone was not offered in the United States, you can "unbrand" the device to work with any wireless carrier around the world. Unbranding a mobile phone is the process of unlocking its wireless network with the use of an unlock code. You can retrieve the unlock code for your N95 phone from a cell phone unlocking company for a fee.

Instructions

1. Visit an online cell phone unlocking company website (see Resources.)

2. Select the option to purchase an unlock code. Enter "Nokia" as the manufacturer of the phone and "N95" as the model of the phone from the drop-down menus.

3. Dial "*#06#" from your N95 phone. Wait for your phone's status menu to appear and write down your phone's international mobile equipment identifier (IMEI) number.

4. Enter your phone's IMEI number into the appropriate field, and then fill out the remainder of the online form with the requested information. In most cases, you will be asked for your name, billing address and credit card number to complete the purchase.

5. Follow the prompts to submit your order. When presented with the unlock code for your device, write it down or print out the page.

6. Power off your Nokia N95 phone then remove the SIM card from the back of your device. Reinsert the battery and power back on the phone.

7. Wait until the phone reboots then enter "#pw+ (UNLOCK CODE) +1#." (For example: #PW+99999999+1#).

8. Wait for the phone to read "SIM Restrictions Off" which confirms that you have successfully unbranded your Nokia N95 phone.
