If you try inserting a SIM card of another network provider in your Nokia 2630, you will see a message like "Incorrect SIM Card" or "Can't Undo Restriction." This problem occurs when you buy a phone from your carrier with a network block on it. Carriers install this block to prevent their customers from using the phone with a different carrier's services. However, you may have to switch to a different service provider for a variety of reasons. In that case, you can simply obtain the correct unlock code and enter it into the phone.
Instructions
1. Find out your Nokia 2630's serial number. Remove its back cover, and take out the battery where you will find a sticker with a 15-digit code printed on it. This will be your phone's serial number, also known as the International Mobile Equipment Identity Number. You can also find it by pressing "*#06#" on the phone keypad.
2. Call the customer services line of your cell phone network provider. Tell the representative that you want to unlock your phone, and give him the IMEI number. Network carriers are usually reluctant to give away the unlock codes, but there's no harm in trying to convince them. If they do not agree, obtain the code using the method given in Step 3.
3. Buy the method from an online GSM unlocking company like GSM Liberty, Unlocking or Unlock All Cellular. (See Resources.) They charge a fee for unlocking, which depends on the network the phone is locked to. Upon giving the company your IMEI number, it will generate the code and email it to you.
4. Power on your Nokia 2630 without any SIM card inserted in it.
5. Key in "#PW+CODE+1#" (replacing "CODE" with the unlock code obtained by the carrier/unlocking company).
6. Press "Send." Now you will see "SIM Restriction Off" on your phone screen. Your phone will be unlocked.
