Extract SIS Files
The SIS file extension is used exclusively for files on hand-held devices such as PDAs or smart phones that run the Symbian operating system. If you have an SIS file on your computer that you want to extract and run or transfer to a hand-held device, you will need to download a program that will allow your computer to interact with the SIS file, then also download a second program specifically designed for extracting it.
Instructions
1. Open your Web browsing program and navigate to the Active Perl website. Scroll to the middle of the page and click on the "Download Now" button. Wait for your browser to create a new window asking what action you want to take and click on "Save File."
2. Minimize your browser and double click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop or in the "Start" menu. Locate the folder where you downloaded the Active Perl installation file. Double click the file, then click the "Run" button. Click on "Next," then click the radio button marked as "I Agree to the Terms and Conditions." Click on "Next," then click on "Install" to start the installation process.
3. Return to your browser and navigate to the UnSIS website. Click on the download link for the UnSIS extraction program, then choose "Save File." Navigate to the "My Computer" folder and right click on the UnSIS file. Choose the "Extract to \UnSIS" option from the new menu that will appear on the screen.
4. Open the Active Perl program and click on the "Preferences" icon at the top right corner of the screen. Click on the folder icon, then scroll through the list of folders on your computer's hard drive. Double click the "UnSIS" folder you extracted earlier. Type "UnSIS" in the "Name" text field, then click on the "Add" button.
5. Click on the text field at the top of the Active Perl window and type in the dollar sign followed by "UnSIS," then the location of the SIS file, such as "& UnSIS C:\Documents\someapplication.sis" to extract the SIS files. Double click the specific file name that was extracted in the panel just below the text field to open the file.
