Save An Mp3 File To My Cell Phone

Most modern cell phones come with operating systems that allow you to easily transfer files -- including MP3s -- to the device. You can listen to MP3s in the phone's media player or assign them as ringtones. Most phones allow you to save MP3s to internal memory or, if supported, an external memory card such as an MMC or SD card.

Instructions

1. Connect the phone to your computer using its supplied USB sync cable. Your computer will detect the phone.

2. Place your phone in USB mode. Windows Mobile, Android and iOS phones will prompt for this connection immediately after connecting to the computer. A simple button press ("Connect" or "Enable USB Mode") on the front of the interface is all it takes. The auto-run window will open, and the name of the phone will display in the Windows notification tray.

3. Select the name of your phone in the auto-run window. The root storage directory (where all files are stored on the phone) will open. Drag and drop the MP3 files you want on the phone into the root storage directory. Some phones may include a subfolder titled "Music," "My Music" or something similar. Although it usually doesn't matter where the file is placed, drop the MP3 into the Music folder when possible.
