The Motorola W376g is a clamshell-style cellular telephone that is sold by TracFone in the United States. The phone is a tri-band Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) that is capable of operating at 850, 1,800 and 1,900 megahertz. The Motorola W376g features Bluetooth, a VGA digital camera, an FM radio tuner and a speakerphone. The phone is normally sold with a carrier lock. To use a carrier locked phone with another carrier, you will need to unlock the cellular telephone.
Instructions
1. Call TracFone customer service and request the unlock code for your Motorola W376g. TracFone will usually provide you with the unlock code, provided that your prepaid account is active and in good standing. Write down the unlock code for your cellular telephone.
2. Purchase a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card from another GSM cellular service provider.
3. Remove the back panel from your Motorola W376g and take the battery out of the phone. Underneath the battery, you will find a SIM card. Remove the SIM card and insert the SIM card you purchased in Step 2. Put the battery back in the phone and replace the back cover.
4. Power on your Motorola W376g. The phone will display the message "Enter Special Code."
5. Enter the unlock code you wrote down in Step 1. Your Motorola W376g is now unlocked and ready to use with the new cellular service provider.
