Play WMA audio books with the software bundled with your computer.
Any audio books you download in WMA format will play back in any of several free audio players. Whether you use a Windows PC or a Mac, your computer comes with software you can use to play WMA audio books. Playing WMA files is only as complicated as adding the tracks to your software audio player. To hear your audio books, you'll need headphones or computer speakers if your computer doesn't have a built-in audio system. Once you know play WMA audio-book files, you'll know play any type of file on your computer.
Instructions
Windows Media Player
1. Click the "Start" menu at the bottom-left of your computer screen. Click "My Music" to open the desktop folder. Drag your WMA audio-book file to your "My Music" folder.
2. Click the "Start" menu and hold the mouse over "All Programs" until you see a list of your installed software. Click "Windows Media Player" to run the program.
3. Click "Recently Added" in the "Library" menu on the left side of the screen. Scroll down the screen to the WMA file you dropped in your "My Music" folder. Click the name of the audio book to select it.
4. Click the "Play" button at the bottom of the screen. Slide the volume slider to the left or right to adjust the volume. The slider is to the right of the "Play" button. Click the square "Stop" button to stop the audio book when you're finished listening.
iTunes Mac OS X
5. Click the "iTunes" icon in your Dock to start the program.
6. Click "iTunes--Add to iTunes Library." Look for the WMA file in the browser window, and double-click the file to add it to iTunes. Click "Music" under the "Library" section on the left side of the screen.
7. Double-click the audio book in your iTunes library to start playing the file. Adjust the volume with the "Louder" and "Softer" keys in the top row of your keyboard. The keys look like little speakers with sound waves coming out of them.
