Take Apart An I880 Phone

Taking apart your i880.

The Motorola i880 is a cellular flip-phone with a clamshell design and various features, such as a 2-megapixel camera and a music player. Even though this phone has a sturdy housing, it's still possible to damage or break the device. So if you've found yourself with an i880 with damaged internal components, you may need to take it apart in order to diagnose the problem or replace parts. The good news is that you can disassemble your i880 without the help of a technician.

Instructions

1. Turn off your i880 and slide the back battery cover down and remove it from the device. Then lift the square battery out of its compartment.

2. Remove the four screws (one on each corner) from the interior of the battery compartment. Then remove the single screw just under the plastic antenna on the top-left side of the phone. Then gently pull the antenna out of the phone.

3. Lift the back housing up from the phone, but be careful not to completely remove it, as it is still connected by a thick ribbon cable. Use the tip of your screwdriver to unplug the cable where it connects to the main board on the interior of the phone. Then set the back housing aside.

4. Locate the white, rectangular tab on top of the main board and use the tip of your screwdriver to gently pop it up. Then lift the main board from the phone housing. The back of the keypad will now be visible in the housing.

5. Peel gently with your fingers the plastic keypad from the housing of the phone and set it aside. Your i880 is now disassembled.
