Unbrand A Phone

Unbrand your mobile phone to use with another carrier.

Removing the brand on your mobile phone is the process of unlocking the device from its current network. Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) phones are able to work with another carrier, once the network lock on their device is removed. To unbrand your phone, you need to obtain an unlock code from your mobile provider.

Instructions

1. Dial "*#06#" from your mobile phone and wait for the status menu to appear on the screen.

2. Retrieve the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) number from the phone and write this number down.

3. Dial "611" from your mobile phone and follow the prompts to speak with a representative.

4. Verify your wireless account and ask the representative to provide you with the unlock code for your device. Write this code down.

5. Power off your mobile phone and remove the battery. Locate the SIM card slot and remove the SIM card.

6. Insert a SIM card into the SIM card slot that does not belong to your wireless provider.

7. Reinsert the battery and turn the power back on to your device. Wait for the phone to boot up and prompt you to enter the network code.

8. Enter the unlock code in the same manner that it was given to you by the representative. Depending upon the model of your phone, your device may read "Code Accepted" or your phone may reboot, signaling the device is unbranded.
