Unlocking your T-Mobile Razr for use with AT&T SIM cards doesn't have to cost any money -- while third-party services available online can provide a code for a price, T-Mobile can supply you with a free unlock code as long as you meet certain eligibility requirements: postpaid customers must have at least 40 days of active service, while prepaid customers need 60 days and a recent minute refill.
Instructions
Obtain an Unlock Code
1. Contact T-Mobile at 800-937-8997. Tell the customer service representative that you need to use your Razr with another carrier and ask for a SIM subsidy unlock code.
2. Provide the representative with your Razr's serial number. Access this number by typing "*#06#" followed by the green call button.
3. Give the representative an email address where the subsidy unlock code can be sent once it has been obtained from Motorola. Allow 14 days for your code to be obtained and sent out.
Enter Your Code
4. Place an AT&T SIM card into your Razr and power the phone on.
5. Enter the code when prompted. Type the code exactly as shown in the email.
6. Press "OK" to unlock the device. A message appears on the screen indicating that the process is complete.
