Setup Voip

You can setup VoIP service as a substitute for your normal land line.

Callers who want to make and receive calls can use VoIP to replace their land line phone. Individuals whom you phone with your VoIP service do not have to own VoIP themselves to get your call. If you place numerous calls out of your local area, VoIP can enable you to have a lower phone bill because each call you make is a part of your VoIP service.

Instructions

1. Purchase a VoIP service such as Vonage, Skype or MagicJack (see Resources). Compare prices among companies to see who best meets your service needs.

2. Buy a VoIP equipped phone. You might also require a router if you intend to go online with the same connection. Ask the VoIP provider you choose if it offers free or low-cost equipment to customers.

3. Insert the router into the high-speed Internet connection. If you do not plan to use your computer and VoIP service at the same time, however, you have the option to insert your phone right onto the connection.

4. Plug the VoIP phone device in your router. This enables your phone and laptop or desktop to work simultaneously.
