What Is The File Extension Jad

Mobil apps use JAD files.

If you hold one of the latest model mobile devices, you use a Java Application Descriptor (JAD) file, or at least your mobile devices does.

Mobil apps use JAD files.

Feature

A JAD file is small, typically 1 kilobyte in size.

Usage

A JAD file is a part of an application installation package for mobile devices. The JAD file includes the name of the MIDlet Suite, the location and size of the associated JAR file and the configuration and profile requirements.

MIDlet Suite

A MIDlet Suite refers to all the files in the package (including the JAR and JAD files) for a mobile application.

JAR and JAD

A JAR file contains the actual Java code instructions for the MIDlet (mobile application) while the JAD file describes the contents of the MIDlet Suite.

Requirements

The JAD file is not always a necessary part of the application package, especially for some newer devices. But, depending on the MIDlet, the JAD file is required to pass parameters to the JAR file. Some application managers on mobile devices may refuse to run the application if the JAD file is not a part of the MIDlet Suite.
