Unlock A Nokia On At&T

A subsidy unlock code allows you to switch cell-phone service providers.

A Nokia cell phone may be "locked" when a user is unable to activate the phone with another service provider. A cell phone company may lock a phone so that only its service can be used with the phone. Unlocking a cell phone requires contacting the current service provider and obtaining a subsidy unlock code. This code allows you to use the phone with any cell-phone service provider. If AT&T provides the service on your Nokia phone, call them for your unlock code.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Nokia cell phone.

2. Dial *#06# on the Nokia phone. This will provide you with the International Mobile Equipment Identity, or IMEI, number.

3. Call AT&T technical support. Tell them you need the subsidy unlock code. They will ask for your Nokia's IMEI number. Write down the subsidy unlock code that AT&T provides.

4. Press # on your phone.

5. Press * three times. This will give you the letter "p" on the display.

6. Press * four times. This will give you the letter "w" on the display.

7. Press * twice. The + symbol will appear on the display.

8. Enter the 15-digit subsidy unlock code.

9. Press * twice. The + symbol will appear on the display.

10. Press 1 and #. The display should say "SIM Restriction Off."
