Read A Dvdr Disk

Read or burn a DVD-R disk on your computer.


You can read a DVD-R (DVD Recordable) and/or burn data to it on your computer. All you need to complete this task is a DVD burner installed in your computer. The software required to read a DVD-R disc and burn data to it is already installed on your computer.


Instructions


On a Mac


1. Insert a DVD-R disk into your computer.


2. Choose an action from the menu that pops up after inserting the DVD-R disk into your computer.


3. Click the "Action" menu and choose "Open Finder," "Open iTunes," "Open Disc Utility" or "Open another application."


4. Choose "Open Finder" to burn data to the DVD-R disk. If your DVD-R disk already has data on it, you can use the Finder to access the data on the DVD-R disk.


5. Choose "Open iTunes" to burn audio to the DVD-R or to read audio that is on the DVD-R disk.


6. Choose "Disc Utility" if you would like to reformat your DVD-R disk. However, this only applies DVD-RW (DVD Rewritable) disks.


7. Choose "Open another application" if there is another program that you would like to use to read or write data to your DVD-R disk. Then select that application from your computer.


8. Click "Ignore" if you do not wish to do anything after reading the DVD-R disk.


9. Click "Eject" to eject the DVD-R from your computer.


On a PC


10. Insert a DVD-R disk into your computer.


11. Choose an action from the menu that pops up after inserting the DVD-R disk into your computer.


12. Choose "Burn an audio CD using Windows Media Player" or "Burn files to disc using Windows." If you have additional programs that are cable or reading or writing data on a DVD, they will also appear in this menu.


13. Choose "Burn an audio CD using Windows Media Player" to burn audio to the DVD-R using Windows Media Player.


14. Choose "Burn files to disc using Windows" to burn data to the DVD-R disk.


15. Choose another program from the list of options available to read or write data to a DVD-R disk.


16. Click the "X" in the upper right-hand corner of the window if you do not wish to do anything after reading the DVD-R disk.


17.Press the "Open/Close" button on your DVD burner to eject the DVD-R from your computer.
