Troubleshoot An Htp 2800

The HTP 2800 is a surround-sound system from Pioneer. Its hardware allows you to connect external audio/video devices to hear the audio in the full six-channel audio system. However, if the Pioneer HTP 2800 is not functioning correctly -- such as audio from a certain device is not playing or the audio from the right side of a television screen is actually playing on the left speaker -- you need to troubleshoot the hardware to determine what exactly is causing the problem.

Instructions

1. Look over the cable connections running from the external audio/video device into the Pioneer HTP 2800. If the cables are not inserted completely into both connection ports, the audio is not going to reach the surround-sound equipment.

2. Inspect the wires of the speakers running to the receiver. These wires are thin and easily damaged. Check for cuts and other gashes. If you find such a cut, cover it up with electrical tape. This insulates the sound signal, preventing it from escaping before reaching the speaker.

3. Look at the speaker connection port. If you have audio that should be coming out of the right speaker, but is actually coming out of the left, it means the speaker wire is inserted into the wrong connection port. Make sure the "Front Left" and "Front Right" speakers are inserted into the "Front Left" and "Front Right" speaker ports. Do the same with the two middle speakers and the two rear speakers.

4. Turn off the Pioneer HTP 2800 and disconnect it from all power sources. This resets the internal hardware of the surround sound receiver, correcting playback issues you are running into. After a few moments, power the equipment back on and the hardware properly plays the desired audio content.
