Make Phone Calls From An Android Phone Using Wifi

A blue wireless icon sits in the notifaction bar when Wi-Fi Calling is active.

To make calls on an Android using Wi-Fi, you need a capable phone and the Wi-Fi calling widget. Some models, like the HTC Sensation and Galaxy S, have a built-in feature called "Wi-Fi Calling" that uses Wi-Fi when it is enabled. At the time of publication, T-Mobile allows free Wi-Fi calls that do not use the minutes from your plan. You won't be charged as long as you enable the service from Mytmobile.com or by calling customer service.

Instructions

1. Go to the home screen and tap "Wi-Fi Calling." If it is not on the home screen, tap "Applications" to locate it.

2. Tap the "On/Off" toggle to turn it on. If you do not see the toggle, tap "Wi-Fi Settings" instead.

3. Touch "Turn on Wi-Fi."

4. Select a connection from the list, then enter the password if it is a secured network.

5. Tap "Connect," then tap the "Back" button.

6. Press the "On/Off" toggle. Future calls are automatically placed through Wi-Fi until you are no longer in range of the signal.
