When you get a new iPhone, you'll notice that its default setting has your contacts listed in alphabetical order, and they are sorted by last name first, first name last. If you'd rather have your contacts sorted by first name, you can easily make the change. After you reverse the order, you may find this is a better option for finding your contacts quickly.
Instructions
1. Go to the "Settings" icon and tap it.
2. Tap the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" option after you've opened the "Settings" menu. Scroll down until you see "Contacts."
3. Tap "Sort Order," then choose "First, Last." This action will sort your contacts in alphabetical order by the first name. If you want to further change how the contacts are displayed, go to step 4.
4. Tap "Mail" on the top left corner of the screen to go back to the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" menu.
5. Tap "Display Order" under "Contacts" and choose "First, Last." This will ensure that your contacts folder is not only sorted by first name, but displayed that way as well.
6. Go to your contacts book to make sure the order has changed.
