Firmware is another name for the software that keeps your phone up and running. Keeping it updated keeps your phone operating smoothly, prevents crashes and improves or adds additional features. Some phone companies only allow you to upgrade the firmware by connecting your phone to a computer or taking it to an official company store, but your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is able to get the latest updates directly over the air.
Instructions
1. Tap the keypad icon on the "Home" screen of your Nokia 5800.
2. Type "*#0000#" and press "Send."
3. Select "Options," then choose "Check For Updates."
4. Wait for the phone to search for firmware over your cell phone network. If it finds a firmware update, select "Install Now" to upgrade. The new firmware installs to your Nokia 5800.
