Cook Pork Shoulder In Packets

Add vegetables to your foil packet for variety and flavor.

Using packets in your cooking allows you to make an easy-to-prepare meal that requires little clean-up. All the ingredients are placed in a packet made of foil that is sealed and then placed in the oven or on the grill, or campfire to be cooked. The packets can be assembled ahead of time and popped in to cook when needed. A packet containing cubes of pork shoulder, potatoes, onions and seasonings will take about an hour to cook, depending on the cooking method and the thickness of the packets. Pork shoulder is a tough meat that benefits from longer cooking at low temperatures. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

2. Combine the pork, potato and onion in a medium bowl and mix with the seasoning or sauce of your choice.

3. Place a two-foot long piece of foil on the counter and spray with nonstick cooking spray.

4. Place the pork mixture on the center of the foil. Top with a second sheet of foil and roll the edges up around each of the four sides, and seal the packet.

5. Place the packet on a cookie sheet in the center of the oven. You can cook several packets on the same cookie sheet, as long as they are all in a single layer.

6. Bake for an hour, and check to make sure the potatoes can be pierced with a fork, and the pork is tender.
