Using your cell phone to tether is a very convenient way to access the web.
Surfing the web from your smart phone or a similar device from wherever you are in the world is incredibly convenient. Tethering your 3G enabled device to your laptop can grant you Internet access wherever you have a cellular signal. Each provider has its own rules and regulations regarding tethering, though, so consult you cellular provider for details.
Instructions
1. Contact your cellular provider about its tethering service. The monthly fee is usually between $30 and $60. Not all smart phones have a tethering option, so make sure you've got a compatible unit.
2. Visit your provider's website from your laptop and download the tethering software. Save the program file to your desktop.
3. Double-click the file to begin the installation process. Follow the prompts and make sure to create a shortcut on your desktop.
4. Double-click the shortcut and log in to your cellular account using your login information. If you're unsure of your username and password, contact your provider.
5. Connect your phone via USB, a special tethering cable or Bluetooth. Each phone's connection method will vary slightly, so consult your user's guide for instructions. Wait for your account information to be verified over the cellular network. The software will indicate when it has verified your account information.
6. Launch your web browser to verify Internet access. Surf the web as you would normally and disconnect your phone when you're finished.
