The Flip camera is an HD digital video recorder that is designed to be small and portable while still recording high-quality video and audio. It connects to your computer via USB, making it simple to transfer files for editing. If your audio and video are out of sync on the files you transfer, this could be a conflict between the default format and your video editor of choice.
Use
When you are finished recording clips on your Flip camera, plug it into your computer to move the files to your desktop. The simplest way to do this is to open the folder containing the media files, left click and drag to select them all (or whatever ones you want specifically), then drag them to your desktop. You may need to go back and delete the files from the camera itself, or you will eventually run out of room.
Formatting Conflicts
Some video editing applications have trouble correctly analyzing the default format of Flip files. While they may play correctly on the camera itself, when inside a video editor the audio will speed up and become out of sync with the video.
Resolution
After taking the video files off your camera, rename each one of them so that the format is changed from .MP4 to .MOV. After you have changed the format for each file, import them into your video editor and they should be synced correctly.
Troubleshooting
Because of its design, the problem with audio and video being out of sync is almost never caused by the camera itself. If you are still having issues, try loading the files from your camera onto different computers and/or importing them into different editing programs to try to isolate the issue. The most common program that creates this type of issue with the Flip camera is Windows Live Movie Maker, so if you use this and are experiencing issues, look into alternative programs.
