Play Amr Files In Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player does not support the AMR format.

Adaptive Multi-Rate files (AMRs) appear most often as voice recordings on cellphones. The format, developed by Ericsson, efficiently compresses the human voice in a small file size. In order to play your AMR files in Windows Media Player, you'll first need to convert them into a format the program supports, such as the Windows Media Audio (WMA) container. In order to complete this conversion, you can use an online converter like Media Converter, Zamzar, or Media-Convert.

Instructions

Media Converter

1. Visit Media Converter (see Resources), click "Upload a file," pick your AMR file and click the "Arrow" button.

2. Choose "WMA" as your target format and click the "Arrow" button.

3. Click "Start" to begin the conversion and "Download" to receive your WMA.

Zamzar

4. Visit Zamzar (see Resources) and click "Browse"/"Choose File" to pick your AMR.

5. Choose "WMA" as your target format and type your email address into the "E-mail" window.

6. Click "Convert" and open your email inbox. Once the conversion finishes, you'll receive an email housing your WMA download link.

Media-Convert

7. Load Media-Convert (see Resources) and click "Browse"/"Choose File" to select your AMR.

8. Choose "Adaptive Multi-Rate (.amr)" as your input format and "ASF Audio (.asf,.wma)" as your output format in the drop-down menus.

9. Click "OK" to start the conversion and "Download" to receive your WMA.
