Use A Headset With Skype

Skype is a wonderful program that allows you to talk with other Skype users via the computer. All you need to use Skype is a home computer, running Windows with a sound card, that came with speakers and a microphone built in or a headset. You will get the best results from using the Skype program if you have a headset. Most computers now have built-in microphones and speakers which are perfectly fine to use for the voice chat program; however, Skype highly recommends purchasing a headset instead. Headsets are relatively inexpensive and can be found at most electronic stores, some department stores and online at the Skype store.

Instructions

1. Purchase a headset that has a microphone that has either two separate connectors or a USB connector.

2. Connect the headset to your computer. Ensure that you are connecting the right connector to the right plug. They are usually color coded green and red.

3. Turn on Skype and log in with your user name and password.

4. Click on "Skype," then "Preference," then "Audio." Select the headset that you have just connected to your computer. You are now ready to use Skype with your headset.

5. Use the Skype troubleshooter if you have any problems.

6. Use Echo123 on the Skype Web site if your sound is not working properly. This program tests to see if your headset is working.
