As people use smartphones to store more and more information, the need for effective security becomes paramount. For Android smartphones, one key way to help secure the device is set up a password that prevents others from accessing the phone's content. "Connect-the-dots" is a variation on the password concept that uses a pattern instead of a set of numbers or letters to gain entry into the phone.
Instructions
1. Press the "Menu" button on the Android. Depending on the phone, this button may be located in different spots, but is often located at the bottom of the screen.
2. Press on the "Settings" button that will appear onscreen after pressing the "Menu" button. The settings button can also be accessed in the application widget list without pressing the menu button.
3. Select the "Location & Security" tab that appears onscreen. This will open a new list of options.
4. Press the "Set Unlock Pattern" button that appears onscreen. This will lead to a screen where the user can set up the connect-the-dots password.
5. Draw whatever connect-the-dots pattern that is desired with the user's finger. This pattern can as simple or intricate as the user demands. Draw the patter twice to confirm it. From that point on, the user will be required to draw the connect-the-dots pattern to unlock the phone after it has gone into a resting mode.
