Connect a Mobile to the Internet Via Bluetooth


A cell phone can connect to the Internet via the cell phone provider network or through a Bluetooth connection. These connections connect the cell phone to the wide area network (WAN). If a cell phone is Bluetooth-enabled, no connectivity hardware is required. Based on the cell phone model, Internet connection via Bluetooth will differ.


Instructions


1. Enable the Bluetooth on your cell phone. This can be done on most phones from the "Settings" menu. Make sure the cell phone is in "Discoverable" mode. Enable Bluetooth on your laptop or another mobile phone that has Internet connectivity.


2. Detect your laptop or mobile phone via Bluetooth and connect to it.


3. Select "Dialup Networking" in the "Partnership Settings." Select "Add a New Modem" in the "Connections" menu and choose "Bluetooth" as the connectivity option. Select the newly added laptop or mobile phone to connect to.


4. Enter the dialing string when prompted. The dialing string is given by the service provider.


5. Enter the user name and password when prompted, and connect to the Internet.
