Configure Skype Speed Settings

Experience clearer calls even over poor connections by modifying Skype's settings.

Although communication over the Internet used to be limited to simple text messages, as bandwidth increases and technology advances, audio/visual communication over the Internet has become more commonplace. One of the more popular programs that can be used for this type of communication is Skype. In order to get optimum speed from Skype, you can modify your speed settings to exploit Skype's peer-to-peer (P2P) network.

Instructions

1. Open Skype and select the "File" menu from the top right-hand corner of the program. Click on "Options."

2. Find the "Connections" tab and select it. You will see two blank boxes.

3. In the "Port" text box, change the value to 443. In the next box, select "Port 80" as the incoming connection port. These settings will allow you to access faster speeds even at lower Internet connection speeds and will also bypass security software that may be slowing down the connection.
