The 7961 is part of the Cisco Unified IP Phone system. This means that this phone works with your Internet Protocol. You must have a DSL or cable Internet service provider (ISP) so you can receive high-quality phone calls with your Cisco phone. Before you can use your Cisco 7961, you need to learn unlock it. You can do so by pressing a few keys and entering your IP address. Instructions
1. Press the keys "**#" (without the quotes) on your keypad.
2. Choose "Settings." Select 6 on your keypad for "Network."
3. Navigate with the down arrow on your phone to "DHCP Enabled." Select "No."
4. Navigate with the up arrow. Enter your IP address in the TFTP server field, using the keypad. Enter configurations for the IP address or mask, Default Router 1 or any other IP parameters you have.
5. Choose "Save" when complete. Your phone is now unlocked and ready to use.
