Transfer Contacts To Iphone

As technology quickly becomes more advanced, people find themselves purchasing new cell phones frequently. If you purchase a new iPhone, you will probably want to transfer the contacts from your old phone rather than input each number into your new iPhone. Luckily, the process of transferring your contacts is simple and usually takes only a few minutes.

Instructions

1. Visit apple.com/itunes/download and click on the blue "Download Now" button to download iTunes to your computer if you do not have the program already. Follow the onscreen directions to download and install the software.

2. Take your old phone to an AT&T store. The store can copy the contacts from your old phone's SIM card to a USB flash drive.

3. Insert the flash drive into a USB port on your computer and visit sixpack.org/pbbreader to convert the file from .pbb to .csv. Click the "Browse" button and navigate to the .pbb file on your flash drive. Click "Upload" and save the new .csv file to your computer's hard drive or your flash drive.

4. Import the .csv file to Outlook. To import the file in Outlook, open Outlook and select "Import/Export" under the "File" menu. Click on "Import from another program or file" to highlight it. Click "Next." Select "Comma Separated Values (Windows)" and click "Next." Click the "Browse…" button and select the .csv file. Click "Next" and select the "Contacts" folder. Click "Map Custom Fields…" and drag the column titles to the correct fields to make sure the columns from the .csv file map to the correct Outlook fields.

5. Import the .csv file to Yahoo mail if you do not use Outlook. Open your Yahoo mail account in your Web browser, select "Options," then "Mail Options," then "Contact" options and finally "Import/Export." Click the "Browse" button and select the .csv file. Click "Import Now."

6. Plug your iPhone into the computer. ITunes should start automatically, but open it if it does not. Select your iPhone within the iTunes program and select the "Info" tab. Select "Sync Outlook Contacts" or "Sync Yahoo Address Book" and follow the onscreen prompts to complete the transfer.
