You can use your Nokia Surge with a variety of Bluetooth-enabled devices -- including headsets, computers, car kits and GPS receivers -- by first going through a connection process called pairing. 1. Press the "Menu" button to open the main menu on the Surge.
2. Click "Settings" to open the Settings menu.
3. Click the "Bluetooth" icon and open the "Bluetooth" listing. Turn it to "On."
4. Place the device you are trying to connect to the Nokia Surge in discoverable mode. Refer to the manual for your specific device on do so. For most Bluetooth headsets, you can initiate discoverable mode by turning off the headset, then turning it back on. Hold down the "Power" button until the LED flashes alternate colors or turns solid.
5. Highlight the second tab and click "Options."
6. Open "New paired device." The phone searches for nearby Bluetooth devices.
7. Select the Bluetooth device from the resulting list. The phone asks if you want to connect automatically; select "Yes."
8. Press "Yes" again to connect to the headset.
