Download To A Samsung Mobile

Cell phones can be remarkably useful tools. You can use them to keep address books, send email and to generally be productive outside of the office. However, mobiles can also be great distractions, as you can also use them to fight boredom or keep you entertained, as phones play music, and they can be used download games and applications. The process of downloading to a Samsung mobile is straight-forward and simple, once you have a data plan.

Instructions

1. Insert a memory card into your Galaxy. You need a mircoSD or microSDHC card in your phone, before you can download anything. The Galaxy supports cards up to 32GB. These cards store your downloaded apps from the Android Market or files you download from a Website. Turn the phone off and remove the back cover, then insert the memory card into the slot with the card face-down, so that the gold contacts can't be seen. Push the card firmly into place, until it locks, and replace the back cover; turn the phone on.

2. Format the memory card. Memory cards need to be formatted using a FAT file system to store files from the Internet. Click on "Applications" from the main menu, while the phone is in idle mode, then "Settings," SD card and phone storage. This menu displays all of your phone's settings for the SD card. Choose "Format SD card" and then select the "Format" option from the next screen. The device will format the card using the FAT system.

3. Download from the Android Market. Click on "Applications" from the main screen, while the phone is in idle mode. Choose "Market" from the list of applications. If this is the first time you've used the Android Market, you will be asked to accept the terms and conditions. Click "Accept" to continue. Browse through the store, sorting the applications by category or price. Click "Buy" to pay for an application. You may be asked for your credit card information the first time you buy. Click "Install" to download and install free applications to your Galaxy. You can delete applications later from the Android Market home screen.

4. Click on "Internet" from the main menu in idle mode, to open a web browser to download files from the Internet. You download files through the Samsung browser, much like you would with your Internet browser on your computer. Once you've found a file you want to download, click the download link to begin the process. You can use your SD card to store downloads, until you get home, when you can transfer them to your PC, or you can download applications for your phone. Applications purchased outside of the Android Market must be installed manually. You can find the downloads by choosing "Settings" from the main menu, then "Applications" and "Unknown Sources." Click a file to install it.
