Sms Rules For Google Voice

Google Voice is one of the many applications that Google offers to users for nothing more than signing up for a Google account. Once you sign up for Google Voice, it not only gives you the ability to make phone calls, but text messaging is included in the program as well.

Texting From Phone

When you have a Google Voice account set up, you can configure it so that text messaging can be done from your mobile phone through the application. When someone sends a text message to your Google Voice phone number, it will appear on your cellphone, but it will be from a different number. You have to respond to that number if you want to send your text message through your Google Voice account. If you respond to that person's regular phone number, it will go through your normal phone number.

Text From Website

When you receive a text message to your Google Voice number, it can be viewed online on your account or on your phone. If you choose to view your messages online, you can also respond to them from your computer. You simply need to enter the phone number or choose the contact from your list of the person you want to send the message to. Then type the message and click send. Google does not charge anything for this service.

Forwarding Text Messages

Google Voice also makes it possible for you to forward text messages. For example, you could forward your text messages to email. To do this, you will need to go into the Voice Settings and then the Voicemail & Text Tab. From there, select the option "Forward text messages to my email." Another option is to forward text messages to a specific cellphone or multiple cellphones. This allows you to keep track of your text messages regardless of where you are.

SMS Applications

Google also makes it possible use text messaging through Google Voice to control other Google apps. For example, with SMS messages, users can use Google search, update Blogger, check their Google calendar and their Gmail account. All of these applications can be utilized simply by sending a text message to the proper number with Google. Then updates can also be sent back to your phone through your Google Voice number. This makes it possible to access Google services even if your phone doesn't have Internet capabilities.
