Use Skype Through Proxy

For those who want to remain anonymous on the Internet, connecting through a proxy is a good way to go. Skype is a VoIP program which allows you to make free calls to others using the same program, and it offers certain plans to call for an unlimited amount of time to landlines and mobiles in certain countries throughout the world. There are many reasons people might want to use a proxy when connecting to the Skype network. Fortunately, this is very easy to configure.

Instructions

1. Open up Skype and log in once.

2. Go to the Tools menu.

3. Click "Options."

4. Click "Advanced" in the left hand column on the new window that shows up. This window should be called "Skype™-Options."

5. Click "Connection" to configure your proxy settings.

6. In the drop-down menu that appears in the middle of the connection options, select the appropriate proxy type. You are given two options: SOCKS5 or HTTP. You will have to know what kind of proxy is the one you intend to use.

7. In the text box labeled "Host," write the IP address of the proxy (i.e. 89.233.10.2).

8. In the box labeled "Port," write the port of the proxy (i.e. 8080).
