The Nokia 6021 can be unlocked for use overseas.
Unlocking a Nokia 6021 mobile phone allows you to use the phone overseas. For cellular carriers that use Global System for Mobile Communications, or GSM, technology, you have to unlock a phone when you leave the United States. Unlocking your phone also opens the software to changes, so some users unlock theirs so they can adjust their phone's operating system. You must call your carrier to unlock your phone.
Instructions
1. Contact your cell phone provider's customer service line to determine if you can unlock your phone. Your carrier will probably not allow you to unlock it within the first 90 days of your contract, unless you will be traveling overseas. If you are not traveling, wait until you've had the phone for 90 days before you call.
2. Ask the customer service representative for the unlock codes for your phone. Give the representative your email address.
3. Wait 24 hours for the carrier to email you your unlock code. Remove your SIM card, restart the phone and enter the unlock code along with any password the carrier sends you. Wait for the "SIM Restriction Off" message.
