Use The Gps On A Blackberry With Verizon

Use the BlackBerry's integrated GPS for navigation on Verizon Wireless.

Beginning with the BlackBerry Curve 8330, Verizon Wireless allowed customers to use the device's built-in GPS unit, even if they did not subscribe to Verizon's proprietary VZ Navigator service. At first, Verizon limited the service to function only with the BlackBerry Maps application. Since the release of more advanced BlackBerry models, like the Tour and Storm, Verizon has allowed users to take advantage of additional GPS-enabled applications.

Instructions

1. Download a GPS-enabled application, like BlackBerry Maps or Google Maps, from BlackBerry App World on the BlackBerry device.

2. Select the "Options" menu from the BlackBerry main menu. Scroll to and select "Advanced Options." From this submenu, select the "GPS" option item.

3. Ensure that GPS Data source is set to "Device GPS." Scroll to GPS Services and select "Location On." Exit and select "Save" when prompted.

4. Launch the GPS-enabled application. If required by the application, enable GPS tracking. The application will enable the GPS features of the BlackBerry as needed to update location data.
