Use Voip On A Nokia N96

VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, applications allow you to call or instant message with someone anywhere in the world without paying expensive fees. VoIP not only works on laptops and computers, but can also work on cell phones such as the Nokia N96 as long as it is connected to the Internet.


Instructions


1. Choose which VoIP application for mobile phones are you going to use. You can choose from Skype Mobile, Fring and Nimbuzz, among others. These are all free to use as of 2010.


2. Open your Nokia N96's Internet browser by going to "Menu," and then to "Applications." Go to the website and download the VoIP program that you have chosen.


3. Install the application to your Nokia N96 by clicking the file. Click "Next," and wait for it to install.


4. Launch the application by going to "Menu" and then to "Applications" of the Nokia N96. Select the icon to run the program.


5. Click "Contacts" on the toolbar and select "Add a Contact." Enter the username or email address of the person you wish to communicate with and click the "Find" button. When the person's nae appears, click "Add." The person will now be on your contacts list.


6. Instant message with your contacts by clicking the person's name. A chat box will appear where you can type in your message. You can also call people in your contacts list by highlighting their name and clicking the "Call" button.


7. Make a phone call by pressing the "Call" button. (This will allow you call a phone directly by number, rather than calling someone on your contacts list.) This is usually a telephone icon. Type in the phone number of the person whom you wish to call and click the "Dial" button.
