Internet-based calling service Skype facilitates free computer-to-computer phone calls between you and other Skype users and calls to cell phones and land lines, domestic and international, at low rates. Although Skype is perhaps most popular as a desktop software program, it exists in the form of mobile applications for several smart phones, such as Apple's iPhone and Google Android devices. Access Skype on a Wi-Fi phone via its mobile application.
Instructions
1. Turn on your phone's Wi-Fi feature if it isn't already on. The specific procedure for doing this varies slightly between your devices, but usually involves finding the "Wi-Fi" pane or section in your phone's "Settings" menu. You must be online both to download the Skype application and to use it.
2. Download the Skype application from your phone manufacturer's "Application Store." Alternatively, download the application onto your computer and transfer it to your device using the "syncing" process, the same one with which you transfer music, pictures and videos onto it.
3. Launch the Skype application and log in. Click or tap the name of a user in your "Buddy List," or the "Call Phones" button to input a phone number and call it. Note that in order to call a phone, you must have funds loaded in your Skype account.
