Many of Nokia's compact and inexpensive phones only feature a numeric keypad. However, you can still type letters by pressing a certain key once or multiple times to display the letter indicated on the button. Typing letters is not only essential for sending meaningful text messages, but also for assigning names to contacts and working with other built-in applications.
Instructions
1. Press the red button on your Nokia cell phone to go to your phone's main screen. Press the "Menu" button to display the menu.
2. Go to the "Messages" or "Messaging" icon, depending on your Nokia phone, and press the "Select" button. Choose the "Create message" or "New message" item to compose a new text message.
3. Press any number from "2" to "9" to display the first printed letter. For instance, pressing "2" results in a letter "A" because the letters "abc" associate with the "2" button. Press a number multiple times to cycle the letters -- for example, pressing "2" twice shows the letter "B" on the screen.
