Unlock A Nokia 6600i

Unlock the SIM card on your Nokia 6600i to make it accessible to any network.

The Nokia 6600 is a slide phone that came out in 2009. If you purchased your phone with a plan, then it is likely that the software on your phone came locked. This prevents you from using a SIM (subscriber identity module) card from another network, which means you will not be able to change to another carrier. In order to do so, you will need to get your phone unlocked.

Instructions

1. Get the Nokia 6600i's IMEI (international mobile equipment identification) code. This code identifies your phone from the millions of mobile phones around the world. To get your IMEI number, enter *#06# on the keypad of your phone. A serial number will appear. Write it down.

2. Buy an unlock code from a reliable site. A few that you can use are Hyfeno, UnlockArena and Foneszone. As of 2010, a code costs between $20 and $25.

3. Go to the site you have chosen to buy codes from and type in your IMEI and email address. Choose the make and model of your phone. Provide your payment details and submit your information. You will receive your codes in a couple of days via email.

4. Get your unlocking code from your email and write it down.

5. Buy a new SIM card from another network. You can buy one from $15 to $20 in any mobile store or convenience store.

6. Turn off the phone and replace the old SIM card with the new one. Turn the phone on again.

7. Enter your unlocking codes. You will see a message on your screen requesting you to enter an unlock code. Type in the unlocking code as you see it and press "OK."

8. Wait for the Nokia 6600i to reboot after you enter the unlock code. Once it has rebooted, your phone is unlocked.
