How do I Transfer Songs Directly From a CD to an MP3 Player?
You may have a favorite CD that you would like to listen to on your MP3 player. Fortunately, transferring music onto your MP3 player is a fairly simple task. It is important to know that the music on a CD is stored as uncompressed WAV files that tend to be large. Using CD ripping software is an easy way to convert these WAV files to small MP3 files that will play on your MP3 player.

1. Insert the desired CD into the CD or DVD drive of your computer.
2. Launch the music management software on your computer. iTunes and Windows Media Player are two popular options. For this example, we will use iTunes.
3. The default music format in iTunes is AAC Encoder. To change this music format on a Mac, choose the "Menu" option in the toolbar, select "Preferences," select the "General" tab, and then click the "Import Settings" button. Under the "Import Settings" dialog box, choose MP3 as the default format where it says "Import Using," and then click "OK."
On a PC, choose the "Controls" option in the toolbar, select "Preferences," select the "Advanced" tab and then click the "Importing" tab. Choose MP3 as the default format where it says "Import Using," and then click "OK."
4. The music management software will automatically recognize and open the CD. iTunes will ask you, "Would you like to import the CD into your iTunes library?" Select "Yes" to import or rip the music files from the CD. Eject the CD when the rip is complete.
5. Attach your MP3 player to your computer. Synchronize the playlist you made from the CD to your MP3 player. Disconnect your MP3 player when you are finished transferring music.
