Unlock Gps Maps

You can unlock maps from your GPS manufacturer's website.

Some GPS manufacturers sell what they call "locked" maps to ensure that the maps are only used with a single GPS device, rather than downloaded to several devices. A locked map has a product key that you use to install (unlock) this map to your GPS device, and by doing so, the map can't be used with any other GPS devices.

Instructions

1. Plug the small end of a USB data cable to the rectangular mini-USB jack at the back or side of your GPS device. Connect the other end of the cable to a free USB port on your computer.

2. Go to your GPS manufacturer's website and find the "Unlock Maps" page.

3. Click "Find Devices" on the "Unlock Maps" page and wait until your GPS device is detected. You may have to type in the Unit ID, found on the back of your GPS device.

4. Enter the serial number found on the back of your GPS device in the space provided on the web page.

5. Type the product key found with the map you are trying to unlock in the space provided on the web page.

6. Click "Unlock Map."
