Find The Thin Plastic Strip That Goes Behind The Ribbon On An Hp Printer

Hewlett Packard (HP) is one of the most trusted consumer computer printer manufacturers on the market in 2010. Like every other printer, paper jams prevent your printer from feeding paper to the ink needles. A printer uses a small black plastic strip to see if there is a paper jam. This is called the paper sensor. If the sensor is damaged or dislodged, it will give you paper jam errors until it is fixed. To locate the sensor, you need to open up the printer.

Instructions

1. Turn off the HP printer and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet. This is to avoid electric shock when opening the printer.

2. Open the printer's top and you will see the paper tray.

3. Pull out the paper tray and you will see the thin black plastic strip, which is the paper sensor arm. If it is dislodged, reconnect it to the printer. If the plastic strip is broken, you will need to repair the sensor by bringing it to a computer store or by sending it to HP for repair.
