Turn Off A Dell Inspiron 9300 Touchpad

The Dell Inspiron 9300 came equipped with a touchpad, like many other laptops. This touchpad is a substitute for a traditional mouse on a laptop. If you prefer to use a standard mouse with your Dell laptop, consider disabling the touchpad. If you do not use the touchpad, yet you have it enabled, you may inadvertently touch it while typing, which could cause your cursor to move around.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." From the Control Panel, choose "Printers and Other Hardware."

2. Click "Mouse" from the "Printers and Other Hardware" menu. Select "Properties," then click on "Dell Touchpad."

3. Click on "Device Select." If you want to fully disable your Dell touchpad, click on the box next to "Disable" for the touchpad. You may also want to disable the touchpad buttons. If so, click "Disable" next to "Buttons."

Leave the touchpad and buttons enabled if you only want the system to disable the touchpad when you have an external mouse connected. Instead of choosing "Disable," select "Disable When External USB Mouse is Present."

4. Click "OK," then "Apply" to save your changes. They become effective immediately.
