Troubleshoot Pairing The Htc Evo & Bluetooth

The EVO supports Bluetooth Headset, Hands Free, A2DP stereo music, and FTP.

HTC's EVO Android 2.1 smartphone operates on CDMA voice and WIMAX data networks. It features an 8-megapixel camera, 1GB of ROM internal memory and 512MB of RAM internal memory. Wireless connections include WLAN with a 802.11 b/g radio for Wi-Fi, and 2.1 Bluetooth for short range wireless connections. Some problems with the EVO can be related to pairing devices over Bluetooth. This can be corrected through troubleshooting.

Instructions

1. Try pairing the device. Turn the phone on with the button on the top of the bezel and allow the phone to start up. From the Home Screen, press "Menu," then "Settings," then "Wireless & Networks." Next, select "Bluetooth Settings" and then "Scan for Devices." The EVO will start to look for the device you want to pair. Follow any prompts.

2. Verify that the device you want to pair is turned on and is set for discovery, if you get no response when you attempt to pair the devices. Within "Bluetooth Settings," or something similar on the device, look for a setting like "Make Discoverable," and select it. Verify the EVO's Bluetooth radio is turned on -- from "Wireless & Networks" select Bluetooth and look for the check mark.

3. Try the first step again and allow the EVO to discover the device. Follow any prompts on both the EVO and on the device. The EVO or the device may ask you to enter a passcode that will be displayed on either the EVO or the Bluetooth device.

4. Check with the manufacturer of the device whether the device's Bluetooth profile is within the EVO's Bluetooth specifications. The EVO can support Bluetooth headsets, Hands Free, A2DP stereo music, and FTP. Then try pairing again.
